travalogue bali day 4: revolver coffee house, seminyak beach

hi guys, this is the last post of my bali journey ):
but fret not! there will be one more beach getaway post (psssst it’s phuket) coming soon HEHE.
and i’m hoping to find the motivation to do up my bali trip video. can’t find the mood to do it!!! T.T
here’s a swimming pool view of the hotel!

those were actually taken by my dad hehe. so anyways, on the last day, edmund and i asked agus a favour to drive us to this secret gem everyone is raving about – revolver coffee house! we talked to the waitress and actually found out that it’s owned by an australian from sydney. almost like the cafe i’m working at currently, just that it’s more towards the melbourne side since our owner is melbournian. so anyways, the good thing about cafes in bali is that they are FREAKING CHEAP. so much cheaper than sg’s. sg is like an avg of 30sgd/pax? over here is merely 10sgd/pax. which is so affordable for quality cafe food. however the downside is that their portion is pretty small ): so… give and take guys!!!

they don’t have it in their menu though so just let them know that you want a bowl of fries and they’ll charge accordingly for you ;)

travelogue bali day 3: water sports, kuta beach, dirty duck diner, tanah lot temple

with 3 comments

Read Travelogue Bali: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 4

hi everyone, i’m back with day 3 of bali!
so on the third day, we headed out to one of the beaches (sorry, i forgot which one ):) in bali for water sports where the waves are much calmer than seminyak/kuta.

DSC05343

the four of us – dad, bro, edmund and i decided to play the jet ski ONLY. because the wind that day wasn’t strong enough for parasailing which was smth that i wanted to go for quite some time already. but jet ski is still legit!!! i ain’t complaining ^_^
jet ski is about 35USD for 15mins. (its cheaper in bintan tho!)

DSC05373

DSC05384

DSC05416

basically we only stayed in that beach for less than an hour because we didn’t need to shower (we didn’t get wet from jetsking at all HAHA) and we went straight to kuta beach after that! here is mainly for us to waddle in the sea and go chilling chilling :>

DSC05464

DSC05515

DSC05786

after soaking in the sun and cleaning up, we went to bebek bengil, a.k.a dirty duck for lunch! this was recommended by my mum’s colleague so we got agus to drive us there to eat some fried duck!!!

DSC05796

and little did we know that the restaurant’s backyard has a beautiful rice plantation for us to take PRETTY PHOTOS ^v^
so happy lo all of us were just snapping pictures hehehe. it’s really beautiful i must say!! super lush and green. love it.

after which, we headed over to tanah lot for some sunset viewing again~ i can honestly not get sick of watching the sun set. even though yes, it sets everyday but it’s still such a phenomenon that you can see so many different shades of the clouds and skies which changes every time. especially with the fact that i’m in bali and have a clear view of the sun setting, it was a treat for my eyes (:

this is the famous tanah lot temple which is one of the seven sea temples around bali coast. there were SO MANY people there. we had to squeeze past other tourists like us now and then. wow. but if i’m not wrong, the temple no longer accept tourists into the temple but only locals.

travelogue bali day 2: ubud full day tour

Read Travelogue Bali: Day 1  | Day 3 | Day 4

hi!! so the next day after our breakfast buffet, we met agus and headed for the first highlight of the day, barong dance. barong dance is a story telling dance about the good and evil. well its a lil bit confusing to watch so maybe its good if you read up on it before watching it cos they will narrate in bahasa indonesia haha.

DSC04759

DSC04762

DSC04767

DSC04772

after watching this performance, we went to a batik painting shop for a bit and then to tegalalang, where you view the rice terraces. however i think its not the harvesting period so the rice terrace didn’t look as nice as i expected it to be. but still, it’s impressive, you will never get this over here in sg.

DSC04900

DSC04927

DSC04929

highlight of the day – lunch with a stunning view of mt batur & lake batur!!
the place to view this awesome scenary is kintamani. really a great viewpoint where we are privileged to enjoy the view and cold breeze.

DSC04976

one day i might conquer this volcano!! maybe my next trip here ;)

DSC04979

DSC04983

our buffet lunch spread!! there are many more varieties than this which are all delicious~

after lunch and taking bazillion photos of the mt batur/active volcano, we had another 1hr+ drive to thirtha empul temple, which is a holy water temple! idk why but i rmb taking photos of the holy water fountain but it seems that it isn’t in the camera. maybe it’s in my dad’s phone instead. my memory is failing me hahaha. oh well. so anyways, this is my ootd! couldn’t wear shorts inside so we had to wear a sarong for a lower body cover up.

DSC05233

so step, i’m definitely doing it wrong hahahaha

DSC05250

next we went to the ubud monkey temple! it was a very quick trip because we were damn scared that the monkeys would bite us and give us rabies HAHA. we’re damn lousy. but at least they don’t snatch our belongings like the monkeys in uluwatu temple. so… fair enough!!

travelogue bali day 1: dreamland beach, uluwatu temple

Read Travelogue Bali: Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4

hi everyone! this is the part 1 of my whole bali trip. my family and i took so many photos that it was really hard for me to pick especially when all of us shared the same camera hahaha. so immediately when we arrived from the hotel, we got greeted by agus, our really friendly driver, out for lunch and then we headed for dreamland beach to check out the waves~

my grandparents were there too!

this is a really weird couple hanging out at the beach when there was already a red flag put up and those lifeguards were telling them to get out of there but they were still like just trying to commit suicide or smth -_-

DSC04537

DSC04541

a family picture of ussssssssssss and sigh this dress makes me look really fat i should stop wearing it ):

DSC04545

i’m so happy with you by my side :*

DSC04546

DSC04571

after that we had a pretty long drive to uluwatu temple to look at the sunset but we already missed it cos we were too late. sigh!!! anyway they were so many monkeys there that would snatch your things away like specs, slippers, cameras or phones so be careful and aware of your surroundings!! two of my grandma’s specs got stolen but they managed to retrieve one back so really, be wary of them okay!!

so on the first day we didn’t really visit much, just headed out for pork ribs in the day time and then a restaurant opposite my hotel which is nothing much to rave about s here’s two photos of the exterior of my hotel at best western premier kuta! wouldn’t really reccommend it because firstly, the location isn’t good. especially when your main focus of the trip is to visit those scenic areas in the centre of bali (ubud), the drive up there is really long which take about 1.5-2hrs each time so it’s actually time consuming and secondly, there’s nothing much to eat/see/wander around the vacinity of the hotel. but i guess for the price of the room (60+sgd/night), it’s a give and take situation. so ya! just a heads up on the hotel :)

travelogue: high life in macau

with one comment

this begins the first photo entry for my hk/macau trip that i went last month! time really flies and how i wish i am able to travel to somewhere new every month.. just need to work much harder so that i can make this truly happen in the near future :)

after months of settling the air tix and accomodation, while itinerary was mainly done by our tour guide, nick(hehe), we finally embarked to hk for our 5d4n stay!

we took a night flight using scoot and i must say, i am always impressed with scoot’s comfy seats even though they are considered a budget airline. but yeah, scoot has the comfiest seats among the rest of the other budget airlines!

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

after a four hour plane ride, we reached at dawn and took an airport express down to kowloon. airport express is different from their normal mtr service where this is specifically for airport transfers only. so we had to transfer to the mtr after we reached kowloon to the ferry terminal where we would be headed for macau.

IMG_6311
truly hongkong – the heavily densed high-rise apartment buildings. look at the tallest building, there are even clouds covering parts of it! i’m not sure if the clouds are just lower than usual or the building is reallyyyyy tall hahaha.

DSC01498

we headed over to star cafe at tsim tsa tsui for our breakfast. i remembered that we reached before 9am when the chef and helper was still chopping up tomatoes and we were their first customers of the day. looking at the amount of tomatoes that they prepared, you must be wondering what  kind of dishes they make with these tomatoes – its their famous tomato noodles!!!

DSC01500

DSC01504

sorry i didn’t take any photos of the tomato beef noodles, but for those who loveeeeee tomatoes, you should try this out! because i don’t like tomatoes, what i say wouldn’t give any justice to it hahaha. but my friends did say that it tastes not bad :)

after our breakfast, we took a good 10-20mins walk to the ferry terminal to head over to macau! we got pretty much scammed when we were buying our ferry tickets ): but more on that later! we were still happy tho hehe. there were two different ferry services and we took cotai water jet!

DSC01507

okayyyy so the reason why i titled this as “high life” is because of the hotel that we booked. I tell you, this is the MOST LUXURIOUS HOTEL I’VE EVER BEEN! for close to 800sgd a night, it was worth every single cent because all of us lived like kings and queens for a night.

when we reached the hotel, we got to check in at the executive/club floor, with pre-cocktail while waiting for our room to be done and a kind lady escorted us to mansion. what we booked was a 2 bedroom mansion so it was in a different building as the other normal rooms. SO… this was what we saw when we got out of the lift. i feel like i was a princess being escorted to my chamber ♥.♥

IMG_6354

when we stepped in, we were in AWE. i tell you. all of us was super happy with our room!!! then we started snapping pictures like crazy and found new things to go “WA” and “OMG” about. like, spacious rooms, walk-in wardrobe for us girls and more.. this was the girls room, one bed each :)

DSC01510

the master bedroom for the boys. all of them slept on the same bed and they said it wasn’t squeezy at all! look at how atas this is :OOOO a bed fit for the kings.DSC01511

JACUZZIIIIIIIIIIIII! this was the highlight of everyone’s trip there. hahaha they even had bath salts for the jaccuzi.

DSC01512

of course us girls had our own bathtub with jacuzzi features and a tv right infront of us :)

DSC01516

our beautiful dining/living room where i took a really comfy nap on the sofa ^_^

DSC01515

THEN WE CHECKED OUT THE PRIVATE SWIMMING POOL AND IT WAS SOOOOO BEAUTIFUL! this is like the outdoor swimming pool in hearst castle. very greek styled, i love it!!! too bad the pool wasnt heated so we couldnt take a dip in the pool ):

IMG_6346

of course we had to take some photos of us ballin’ hahaha

WHEN IN MACAU, EAT PORTUGUESE EEG TARTS!!! yumzzzzzzzzzz, always eat their egg tarts! the ones in white are birds nest egg tart which were surprisingly good! its not as sweet as the original one but the sweetness was just right with its fluffy and crispy pastry outside.

DSC01569

we couldn’t get enough of our hotel… so we headed back to chill and have dinner HAHA.
-so that was the end of our day 1-

refreshing morning view from the swimming pool *.*

this is the common swimming pool that’s a level below ours! if i’m not wrong in summer time they might have a pool bar which is pretty cool

we finally did some sight seeing on our second day! senado square was just a road down from our hotel so it was really convenient hehe
